Stainless Steel 422 has around 11.0–13.0% Chromium and 0.20–0.25% Carbon, with molybdenum, tungsten, and vanadium for added strength. Its heat-treated tensile strength is as high as 1000–1400 MPa, and it has great creep and fatigue resistance. SS 422 is magnetic and can be heat-treated, with high mechanical properties at high temperatures. It also has good corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance up to 1200°F (649°C).
