310S stainless steel generally has ~25% chrome, ~20% nickel, and lower carbon (~0.08%) to enhance weldability. Tensile strength is 515–740 MPa, yield strength is 205–300 MPa, and elongation is around 40%. Hardness is approximately 217 HB. The alloy has very high resistance to scaling and oxidation up to 1093°C (2000°F), with good creep and thermal fatigue strength. Although not heat treatable, it retains mechanical properties at high temperature. Complies with ASTM A276 and A479 specifications for stainless bars and rods.
