Louis Metals, Houston, USA, is a top-notch manufacturer and supplier of excellent Super Duplex Steel Bars and Rods. These bars are produced using a high-end alloy of austenitic and ferritic stainless steels that provide better strength and exceptional corrosion resistance. Renowned for their resistance to hostile environments, Super Duplex Steel Bars and Rods are perfectly suited for processes involving high tensile strength, pitting, and stress corrosion cracking resistance. Through rigorous quality checks and high precision production, Louis Metals offers long-lasting, trustworthy, and functional Super Duplex Steel goods for industries including oil & gas, marine, and chemical processing.
Super Duplex Steel Bars and Rods mainly contain approximately 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum, and 7% nickel with traces of nitrogen, copper, and tungsten. This structure offers high tensile strength (~550–800 MPa), good pitting resistance, and excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking. The bars retain mechanical stability even at higher temperatures (up to 300°C) and are weldable. Their high strength-to-weight ratio, along with increased corrosion resistance, makes them well suited for harsh industrial conditions. The hardness of the alloy is generally between 250 and 300 HB, depending on processing and heat treatment.

Super Duplex Steel rods are generally resistant to galvanic corrosion due to their high chromium and molybdenum content. However, they can still be susceptible when coupled with highly dissimilar metals in certain environments.
Yes, Super Duplex Steel bars can be welded using appropriate techniques and filler materials. Careful control of heat input and post-weld heat treatment is essential to avoid degradation of their mechanical properties.
Super Duplex Steel rods are available in various sizes, ranging from small diameters to large rods, typically up to 300mm or more. Finishes can include hot-rolled, cold-drawn, polished, or ground, depending on the application requirements.
Super Duplex Steel Bars and Rods are suitable for use in aggressive and corrosive conditions. They are extensively applied in the oil & gas sector for valves, flanges, and risers, where they need to resist chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking. In the maritime field, they find applications in pump shafts, heat exchangers, and seawater systems. Chemical plants utilize them in pressure vessels, reactors, and piping systems that are subjected to acids and corrosive chemicals. These bars are also extensively utilized in power plants and desalination plants, providing better performance in applications where strength along with corrosion resistance is required.
