Ferralium 255 (UNS S32550) is a super duplex stainless steel alloy with outstanding performance in extremely corrosive and mechanically stressed conditions. With high chromium, molybdenum, and copper contents, this alloy provides enhanced pitting and crevice corrosion resistance compared to other super duplex grades. Louis Metals offers Ferralium 255 rods in special sizes and finishes, produced to ASTM A276 and A182 specifications. Ferralium 255 consists of 25% chromium, 5% nickel, 3.5% molybdenum, 2% copper, and nitrogen. It offers a tensile strength of up to 850 MPa and a yield strength of 570 MPa, which makes it among the strongest corrosion-resistant alloys in existence. Its PREN value is more than 40, which provides extreme pitting and crevice corrosion resistance. The alloy has very good impact strength and weldability, even in subzero temperatures.
