Stainless Steel 317 Bars and Rods are produced from a high-alloy, molybdenum-containing austenitic stainless steel comprising about 18–20% chromium, 11–15% nickel, and 3–4% molybdenum. This alloy provides improved resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chemical attack, particularly in acidic and chloride-containing conditions. These bars generally have a tensile strength of 515 MPa, a yield strength of 205 MPa, and an elongation of approximately 35%. Stainless Steel 317 is non-magnetic in the annealed state and provides very good formability, weldability, and fabrication properties, making it useful for precision-engineered components and heavy-duty structural parts.
