Stainless Steel 420 Flat Bar is an austenitic-martensitic stainless steel with excellent hardness and good resistance to corrosion. It usually contains 12–14% chromium and can be heat-treated to achieve enhanced strength and wear resistance. The material has a tensile strength of 700–850 MPa, yield strength of 345 MPa, and an elongation of about 15%. 420 stainless is ferromagnetic in the hardened and annealed conditions. These flat bars are highly polishable and are used in applications where hard and strong material is needed. They are flattened to ensure easy fabrication as well as even load distribution.
