Louis Metals specializes in the production and provision of Stainless Steel 317 Square Bars and Rods in Houston, USA, providing top-of-the-line stainless steel options for aggressive and chemically harsh environments. Carefully manufactured using top-grade raw materials, SS 317 square bars and rods are recognized for their superior corrosion resistance in applications involving chlorides, sulfur compounds, and acidic media. These bars are most suitable for strength-demanding, long-lasting, and pitting and crevice corrosion-resistant applications. Louis Metals caters to a broad spectrum of industries such as chemical processing, pulp and paper, marine, and pharmaceuticals with high-performance and reliable SS 317 products.
Stainless Steel 317 Square Bars/Rods are high-alloy austenitic stainless steels having Chromium (18–20%), Nickel (11–15%), Molybdenum (3–4%), and Carbon (up to 0.08%). The increased molybdenum content provides considerably improved localized corrosion resistance over commercial grades such as 304 or 316. These bars possess a tensile strength of 515–760 MPa, yield strength of about 205 MPa, and excellent ductility and weldability. SS 317 maintains its mechanical properties at high temperatures and remains non-magnetic in the annealed condition, and hence is suitable for both the structural and chemical exposure environments.

Stainless Steel 317 Square Bars and Stainless Steel 317 Rods are widely utilized where corrosive chemicals, heat, or both are encountered. Chemical tanks, process piping, heat exchangers, evaporators, scrubbers, and marine components are typical uses. Equipment exposed to chlorides and acid solutions in the pulp and paper, textile, and food processing industries utilizes SS 317. The square form also offers very good load-carrying capacity and is appropriate for structural constructions, support systems, and precision parts. With its higher corrosion resistance as well as mechanical properties, SS 317 square bars as well as rods are best used in long-life, high-performance applications.
