Louis Metals produces Aluminium 7050 Forgings in Houston, USA, offering high-strength, corrosion-resistant solutions for aerospace and defense industries. Alloy 7050 is designed to provide high toughness, high fatigue strength, and maximum resistance to stress corrosion cracking. We offer forgings in tempers such as T7451 and T7651, satisfying ASTM B247 and aerospace-grade requirements. Louis Metals assures dimensionally precise, high-quality forgings suitable for severe structural applications where long-term durability and reliability are needed in harsh environments.
7050 has 5.7–6.7% Zinc, 2.0–2.6% Magnesium, 2.0–2.6% Copper, and 0.04–0.15% Zirconium. It provides tensile strength between 510–540 MPa and yield strength of around 430–470 MPa in T7451 condition. The alloy has high corrosion resistance, particularly in thick sections, and resists stress corrosion cracking and exfoliation. It’s heat-treatable and provides good machinability, but welding is restricted. It maintains strength in fatigue loading and at elevated temperatures.

Yes, Aluminum 7050 can be forged into shapes with tight tolerances, as it offers good strength and machinability. However, precise control over temperature and pressure is required for optimal results.
Aluminum 7050 is not ideal for high-temperature forging applications due to its limited heat resistance. It is better suited for aerospace and structural applications, offering good strength at lower temperatures.
Aluminum 7050 offers high strength, excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking, and good fatigue resistance. It's ideal for aerospace and military applications, providing superior performance in custom forgings.
7050 Forgings have extensive application in fuselage frames, wing skins, bulkheads, and aircraft support structures. 7050 is sought after for high-load aerospace assemblies demanding corrosion resistance. 7050 is also beneficial in military vehicles, missiles, and pressure vessels. 7050 is applicable in high-speed rail, structural tooling, and marine components subject to stress and corrosion. The alloy is best in parts demanding consistent performance under severe service conditions, such as landing gear and aerospace bracketry.
