Louis Metals provides Aluminium 5082 Forgings from Houston with high corrosion resistance, particularly in marine and automotive conditions. The forgings are made of non-heat-treatable aluminum-magnesium alloy 5082 and exhibit exceptional strength and weldability. Our forgings adhere to ASTM B247 standards and are tailored to stringent tolerances for critical applications. Suitable for pressure equipment and structural use, Louis Metals provides consistent, high-quality forgings in assorted shapes and sizes.
5082 has 4.0–4.9% Magnesium and a maximum of 0.35% Manganese. It provides tensile strength of 270–330 MPa and yield strength approximately 190–280 MPa based on temper (H32, H34). It is resistant to corrosion by saltwater and industrial chemicals and weldable easily without reduction in strength. This alloy is cold worked to provide enhanced hardness and strength with unchanged ductility.

Aluminum 5082 offers high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, good weldability, and enhanced fatigue resistance, making it ideal for custom forgings in marine, aerospace, and structural applications.
The forging process for Aluminium 5082 typically takes between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the complexity of the part, size, and the specific forging method used.
Aluminum 5082's workability, characterized by good machinability and medium strength, allows for easy shaping during forging. However, its relatively low work hardening rate may require careful temperature control.
5082 Forgings are employed in automotive body panels, boat hulls, truck trailers, storage tanks, and pressure vessels. Due to their high formability and resistance to corrosion, they are best suited for marine, transport, and building applications. They can also be used for structural supports of bridges, coastal facilities, and military structures. 5082 offers durable long-term performance in both welded and bolted conditions.
