Louis Metals offers high-quality Aluminium 6061 Forgings produced in Houston, USA. One of the most widely used heat-treatable aluminum alloys, 6061 provides an excellent combination of strength, corrosion resistance, and machinability. It is perfectly suitable for structural as well as engineering applications in a variety of industries. In T6 and T651 tempers, our forgings conform to ASTM B247 standards and are precision-made to the most stringent performance requirements. Louis Metals provides custom shapes and sizes for challenging mechanical and industrial applications.
6061 has 0.8–1.2% Magnesium, 0.4–0.8% Silicon, with small traces of Chromium and Copper. Under T6 condition, it shows tensile strength of 260–310 MPa and yield strength of 240 MPa. It shows great corrosion resistance, satisfactory fatigue life, and excellent machinability. It can be easily welded and shaped. Forgings range from rings and blocks to flanges and more, and provide the flexibility and endurance.

Aluminum 6061 offers excellent strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, machinability, weldability, and thermal conductivity, making it ideal for custom forgings in aerospace, automotive, and structural applications.
Aluminum 6061 is not ideal for high-temperature forging due to its lower melting point and limited high-temperature strength. It is better suited for structural applications, not extreme heat environments.
Aluminum 6061's workability allows for easier forging, as it has good formability, high strength, and excellent machinability. It requires careful temperature control to avoid cracking during the forging process.
6061 Forgings find extensive application in the aerospace, automobile parts, marine parts, building frames, bridges, and piping systems. The strength and machinability of the alloy make it suitable for tooling, jigs, bicycle frames, valves, and structural work. It is also utilized in recreational vehicles, electronic enclosures, and offshore platforms. With precision components to heavy-duty components, 6061 provides consistent performance in adverse as well as general conditions.
