Louis Metals produces and exports Aluminium 6083 Forgings in Houston, USA, providing a high-strength, corrosion-resistant alloy suitable for rigorous structural use. Well-renowned for its fine weldability and medium-to-high strength properties, 6083 is ideal for architectural and transport sectors. Our forging quality provides high dimensional accuracy, superior surface finish, and consistent mechanical properties in all finished parts.
Aluminium 6083 consists of aluminium combined with magnesium (0.45–0.9%) and silicon (0.6–1.2%). It provides tensile strength of approximately 270–340 MPa and is highly resistant to atmospheric and chemical corrosion. The alloy is heat-treatable and is highly responsive to anodizing, offering aesthetic as well as protective properties. It possesses satisfactory machinability and can be forged into intricate forms with high tolerance control.

Yes, Aluminum 6083 can be forged into thin-walled custom shapes, but it requires precise control of temperature, pressure, and tooling due to its relatively high strength and tendency to harden.
Aluminum 6083 has excellent workability, making it ideal for forging. Its high formability allows for intricate shapes with minimal cracking, ensuring smooth, efficient forging processes for complex components.
Aluminum 6083 is not ideal for high-temperature forging applications. It has lower strength at elevated temperatures compared to other alloys like 7075, making it unsuitable for such conditions.
Aluminium 6083 forgings are applied in rail wagons, building frames, architectural support girders, piping systems, and load-bearing brackets. Their resistance to corrosion renders them appropriate for marine and outdoor uses. The alloy is also utilised in heavy trailers, building structures, and hydraulic systems where strength and corrosion performance are equally important. It can withstand stress well and provide long-term durability in harsh environments.
