Stainless Steel 430 Hollow Bar is a ferritic, non-hardenable type that has outstanding corrosion resistance and formability. It has 16–18% chromium and negligible nickel content and is an economical substitute for austenitic grades. Mechanical characteristics are 450 MPa tensile strength, 205 MPa yield strength, and elongation of 22%. Good resistance to oxidation and stress corrosion cracking is provided. Weight is minimized by its hollow shape, yet structural integrity is achieved, making it suitable for fabrication and machining. Its makeup favors magnetic properties, which are useful in certain industrial uses.
