Stainless Steel 420 Hollow Bars are martensitic stainless steels with a composition of primarily Chromium (12–14%), Carbon (0.15–0.40%), and traces of elements such as Manganese, Silicon, Phosphorus, and Sulfur. This composition offers good hardness and reasonable corrosion resistance. SS 420 provides tensile strength of 700–900 MPa, yield strength of about 500 MPa, and hardness of up to 50 HRC when heat-treated. The ductility is fair and is attracted to magnets in both the annealed and hardened conditions. SS 420 possesses all these characteristics rendering it appropriate for applications where high mechanical strength, good wear resistance, and minimal corrosion exposure are needed.
