Luois Metals distributes EN–9 high-carbon steel bars from Houston to the United States industry. EN–9 provides increased hardness and abrasion resistance, making it the suitable choice for heavy-duty applications. We procure from certified mills and process to ASTM and BS standards. Our EN–9 bars are available in different sizes and tempers, ready for machining or heat treatment. With technical assistance and quality control checks, we maintain consistent supply and technical assistance. Luois Metals assists customers across the tooling, automotive, and manufacturing industries by providing consistent carbon steel bars for long–term performance requirements and high–stress applications.
EN–9 carbon steel has 0.95–1.05% carbon, 0.30–0.50% manganese, 0.05–0.35% silicon. It develops high hardness and strength following heat treatment. Tensile strength is 900–1000 MPa; yield strength at 550 MPa, with elongation of about 8–12%. Typical Brinell hardness is 217–269 HB. The alloy is ideal for quenching and tempering to form wear-resistant structure. Accepting ASTM A681 and BS 970 standards, EN–9 provides consistent performance in wear conditions, without compromising on sufficient toughness.

Carbon Steel EN-9 is commonly used for manufacturing bolts, nuts, fasteners, and structural components in heavy-duty applications like automotive and construction industries.
EN-9 offers excellent tensile strength, wear resistance, and hardenability, making it suitable for components subjected to mechanical stresses and heavy-duty environments.
Yes, Carbon Steel EN-9 can be heat-treated to enhance its hardness and strength, making it versatile for various engineering applications.
EN‑9 bars are widely applied to produce gears, shafts, bearing races, cutting tools, punches, and shear blades. Because of its high hardness following heat treatment, it is best suited for high-wear industrial parts in metalworking, mining, and textile machines. EN‑9 also finds application in springs, mandrels, and fasteners of high strength. It provides support to applications in the automotive axles, dies, and reamers. Its ability to attain high wear resistance by quenching and tempering makes it appropriate for heavy-duty tools, forging equipment components, and machine parts exposed to abrasive conditions.
