Carbon Steel AISI 1018 bars and rods contain about 0.18% carbon, 0.75–0.90% manganese, along with trace amounts of phosphorus and sulfur. This low carbon content gives the steel good ductility and toughness, making it easy to machine and weld. The typical tensile strength falls between 440 to 470 MPa, with a yield strength around 370 MPa. 1018 steel is known for its excellent surface finish and consistent mechanical properties, especially when cold drawn. While it’s not naturally resistant to corrosion, it can be surface-treated or coated for better protection in tougher environments.
