Louis Metals, a top-notch stainless steel supplier and manufacturer located in Houston, USA, proudly offers high-quality Stainless Steel 416 Hex Bars. These bars are celebrated for their exceptional machinability, strength, and wear resistance. As a free-machining martensitic stainless steel, 416 is perfect for high-volume production and applications that require a fantastic surface finish and solid dimensional stability. Our 416 hex bars are crafted to meet ASTM standards and are frequently used in components like shafts, gears, fasteners, and valve parts. With quick turnaround times and custom sizing options, Louis Metals provides high-performance 416 hex bars that satisfy the rigorous demands of the automotive, aerospace, and mechanical engineering sectors.
Stainless Steel 416 Hex Bars are made up of 12–14% chromium and up to 0.15% sulfur to enhance machinability. With a carbon content of about 0.15%, this alloy can be heat-treated to boost hardness. It boasts a tensile strength ranging from 550 to 760 MPa, a yield strength of around 275 MPa, and a Brinell hardness of up to 207 HB in its annealed state—higher when hardened. While 416 offers moderate corrosion resistance, it truly shines in applications where machining efficiency and mechanical strength are paramount. It also responds well to heat treatment and maintains excellent dimensional stability throughout processing.

Stainless Steel 416 Hex Bars find their place in high-precision applications that require outstanding machinability, strength, and wear resistance. Common applications include motor shafts, pump parts, bolts, nuts, gears, and machine components that demand intricate machining and tight tolerances. The 416 alloy is particularly suited for the automotive, aerospace, defense, and general engineering industries. Its hexagonal shape not only provides structural strength but also makes gripping easier during machining. Although it’s not the best choice for highly corrosive environments, it performs admirably in dry or mildly corrosive conditions.
