Stainless Steel 347 Forgings are made from an austenitic, stabilized stainless steel alloy with 17–19% chromium, 9–13% nickel, and columbium (niobium) to avoid intergranular corrosion. Stainless Steel 347 Forgings have good mechanical properties such as tensile strength of about 485 MPa, yield strength of 170 MPa, and elongation of about 40%. The alloy is stable to weld and long-term exposure to heat. It maintains satisfactory oxidation resistance and strength when exposed to thermal stress, and hence is appropriate for applications where reliability matters. 347 stainless steel forgings can be formed into flanges, valve bodies, rings, shafts, and special components that need superior corrosion resistance and strength.
