Stainless Steel 420 Rectangular Bars are martensitic stainless steels containing a composition of essentially Chromium (12–14%), Carbon (0.15–0.40%), and minor amounts of Manganese, Silicon, Phosphorus, and Sulfur. The bars can be heat-treated to achieve high tensile strength (700–900 MPa), yield strength of around 500 MPa, and also hardness up to 50 HRC. SS 420 provides average ductility and good machinability in the annealed condition. It provides corrosion resistance sufficient for mildly corrosive environments and features excellent wear, abrasion, and impact strength, and hence the best option for precision-machined and load-bearing parts.
