Aluminium 5082 has 4.0–4.9% Magnesium and 0.15–0.35% Chromium. It provides tensile strength of 275–350 MPa and yield strength of 200–290 MPa. The alloy is not heat-treatable but becomes stronger by cold working. It has very good corrosion resistance in marine and industrial environments, high fatigue strength, and good weldability. It is well maintained at higher temperatures and is suitable for structural uses in corrosive environments.
