Stainless Steel 316L Round Bar and Rods are produced from low-carbon, molybdenum-containing austenitic stainless steel alloy with a composition of about 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum. The lower carbon content enhances weldability and reduces the probability of carbide precipitation upon welding. Bars possess tensile strength of about 485 MPa, yield strength of 170 MPa, and elongation of about 40%. 316L stainless steel is non-magnetic in the annealed state and offers superior pitting, crevice corrosion, and wide-range aggressive chemical resistance, especially in chloride-rich and marine conditions.
