What is Incoloy Forgings?

Every Incoloy forging exhibits minor compositional difference but normally contains Ni ~30–45%, Cr ~20–25%, Fe balance, with additions of Mo, Cu, Ti/Al for certain corrosion or mechanical improvement. Tensile strengths are between ~550–650 MPa, yield strengths between 230–300 MPa, and elongations are 35–50%. Hardness in annealed forgings is 190–240 HB. The alloys exhibit mechanical stability at 700–1000 °C and resist sulfide stress corrosion, thermal cycling, and fluoridation. All grades meet applicable ASTM forging specifications for strength and integrity at working stress.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Yes, Incoloy forgings are highly corrosion-resistant, especially to oxidation and carburization, making them ideal for high-temperature and harsh environments, such as chemical processing and power generation applications.

Incoloy forgings are used in aerospace for turbine engine components, exhaust systems, and heat exchangers due to their excellent heat resistance, strength, and corrosion resistance in extreme temperature environments.

The ideal temperature range for forging Incoloy is typically between 2,100°F (1,150°C) and 2,300°F (1,260°C). This range ensures optimal material flow and properties without compromising strength or integrity.

Incoloy Forgings Uses

Incoloy forgings see extensive application in heat exchanger tubes, reactor internals, pump shafts, valves, and piping in petrochemical refineries, nuclear facilities, and marine applications. In thermal-process applications, they are utilized in furnace hardware, reformer coils, and equipment for handling sulfur. Their corrosion and mechanical properties are ideal for flue gas desulfurization components, seawater desalination components, and acid processing components. The performance of the alloy in high-salthigh-temperature, and corrosive operating conditions guarantees long-term operating life. Incoloy forgings by Luois Metals guarantee structural reliability and strength in heavy-duty and crucial industrial applications.
