It possesses excellent tensile strength to 965 MPa, yield strength of about 625 MPa, and elongation about 25% (solution-treated). Brinell hardness varies between 200–300 HB. It retains oxidation resistance up to 1010 °C and demonstrates excellent tensile strength up to ~750 °C. AMS and ASTM certified, 617 is weldable as well as having creep strength, which allows it to be used for welded assemblies in harsh environments.
