Haynes 556 contains about 30% nickel, 23% chromium, 20% iron, and 4% niobium with minor amounts of molybdenum, aluminum, and titanium. Haynes 556 is a γ’ strengthened superalloy with tensile strength of about 950 MPa, yield strength of about 600 MPa, and elongation of about 20%. It has Brinell hardness of 230–280 HB and good thermal fatigue endurance. Haynes 556 is capable of functioning at temperatures of about 704°C, checking all the boxes for creep strength and oxidation resistance. It is AMS 5725 / ASTM B637 certified and finds fame due to weldability and high thermal stability.
