Based in Houston, Texas, Louis Metals is a leading producer and supplier of Nitronic 40 Bar and Rod. High-performance austenitic stainless steel Nitronic 40 is renowned for its exceptional strength, durability, and resistance to corrosion—even in cryogenic and high-temperature settings. Nitronic 40 provides excellent fabricability and weldability, making it perfect for use in chemical processing, aerospace, and marine applications. At Louis Metals, we provide carefully designed Nitronic 40 bars and rods that satisfy exacting industry requirements. Our dedication to excellence, reliability, and client satisfaction guarantees that customers will receive trustworthy materials for demanding and important applications.
About 19–21% chromium, 9–11% nickel, and 1.5–2.5% manganese make up Nitronic 40 Bar and Rod. To improve strength and corrosion resistance, small amounts of nitrogen and molybdenum are added. This alloy offers outstanding elongation and impact resistance, as well as a typical tensile strength of 655 MPa and a yield strength of about 310 MPa. Even in cryogenic settings, Nitronic 40 retains its mechanical integrity over a broad temperature range. In comparison to 304 and 316 stainless steels, it provides better resistance to oxidation and scaling while retaining outstanding formability and weldability for demanding industrial applications.

Nitronic 40 bars are available in both rough and smooth finishes, depending on the manufacturing process and customer requirements. Smooth finishes are typical for applications needing better aesthetics or precision.
Nitronic 40 rods are available in sizes ranging from 3mm to 300mm diameter. Finishes include bright, polished, black, and rough-turned, catering to industrial and decorative applications.
Yes, Nitronic 40 bar can be welded using standard methods like TIG, MIG, and shielded metal arc welding. Preheating is not required, and post-weld annealing ensures optimal properties.
Because of their exceptional mechanical strength, resistance to oxidation, and stability at high temperatures, nitronic 40 bars and rods are widely used in the cryogenic, petrochemical, marine, and aerospace industries. Aircraft hydraulic tubing, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, valves, fasteners, and structural elements exposed to high-stress or corrosive conditions are among the applications. It is particularly well-suited for use in chemical handling equipment, marine shafts, and jet engine parts. Because of its remarkable performance in both oxidising and reducing environments, nitronic 40 is a flexible and affordable option for manufacturers who need longevity, dependability, and ease of fabrication.

We provide products that come with both mill test certificates and third-party test certificates, ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance.
