Hastelloy B3 is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy with about 58% nickel, 28% molybdenum, and 9% chromium, with trace iron content. It is resistant to corrosion due to chlorides and can be used in highly acidic and hot conditions. Mechanical properties comprise tensile properties of 700–800 MPa, yield of around 270–380 MPa, and elongation of 30–45%. Brinell hardness varies from 180–240 HB. Available in solution-annealed condition, B3 possesses remarkable corrosion resistance when exposed to hot acids and can be used in hydrochloric, sulfuric, and acetic acid services up to 425 °C.
