Luois Metals supplies high-quality Hastelloy B2 bars and rods from our Houston distribution facility to chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical customers across the United States. With its exceptional resistance to hydrochloric acid and reducing environments, Hastelloy B2 (Alloy B‑2) is procured to AMS and ASTM specifications. We provide a range of diameters and tempers, stress-relieved and solution-annealed as well, with precision cutting and heat certification among services. Our staff maintains uniform alloy quality and delivery on time. Luois Metals assists engineers and maintenance personnel with corrosion-resistant alloy solutions essential to critical process equipment.
Hastelloy B2 is a nickel-molybdenum alloy containing about 65% nickel, 28% molybdenum, traces of chromium, iron, and manganese. It has good resistance to hydrochloric and sulfuric acids and to reducing agents. Mechanical properties are tensile strength of about 690–760 MPa, yield strength of 270–385 MPa, and elongation of 35–45%. Brinell hardness is generally 180–230 HB. Alloy B2 can be in solution annealed or stress-relieved forms, retaining corrosion resistance and strength in a wide temperature range up to ~650°C.

Yes, Hastelloy B2 rods can be welded. However, it requires proper techniques and filler materials to avoid cracking due to their sensitivity to heat-affected zones.
Hastelloy B2 bars offer exceptional resistance to hydrochloric acid and other corrosive environments, along with excellent weldability and high strength. They are highly resistant to pitting, stress corrosion, and localized corrosion.
Hastelloy B2 rods are available in various sizes, ranging from small diameters to larger rods, with common diameters including 0.125 inches to 4 inches. They typically come in a polished or cold-drawn finish, depending on the application requirements.
Hastelloy B2 bars and rods are employed in chemical process equipment such as reactors, acid tanks, valves, and piping systems exposed to hydrochloric or sulfuric acids. Due to its high corrosion resistance, it finds application in salt production, pickling lines, and acid regeneration units. In the pharmaceutical industry, B2 alloy rods are applied to agitators, fittings, and instrumentation. The alloy is ideal for chlorination, electrochemical processing, and high-purity hydrogen chloride applications. It also applies to pressure vessels and pumps that serve reducing acids and brine services and offer long-term corrosion resistance in severe chemical environments.
